Future

At ETSI one works presently on the TETRA release 2. This release represents an advancement, that is set up however on presently valid standards. Therefore full backward compatibility is ensured, whereby carried out investments are being protected.

Above all TETRA release 2 shall enable higher transmission speeds in data communication, but shall also offer new possibilities for the future connection of TETRA to other 3G (third generation, f.i. UMTS) networks. Further main tasks are f.i. the development of a TETRA SIM card as well as to enable roaming between TETRA nets and other networks (GSM, GPRS, UMTS).
